A New Place to Pause: The Soma Pause at DEN Meditation
Sometimes a new offering begins not because we planned for it, but because the right space appears for it to take form.
This is how The Soma Pause began.
Earlier this year, I connected with the team at DEN Meditation to explore what a collaboration between our communities might look like. As we talked about their weekly virtual classes—short, accessible practices designed to meet people within the rhythm of everyday life—I began thinking about what twenty minutes of The Elemental Soma could hold.
Not a workshop.
Not a full ritual.
Not twenty minutes of teaching.
A pause.
A place to return to the body.
And from that question, The Soma Pause emerged.
Twenty Minutes to Return
The Soma Pause is a 20-minute guided Elemental Soma experience rooted in a simple invitation:
Pause. Notice. Return.
Each gathering weaves together Reiki, sound, breath, somatic awareness, and stillness while bringing our attention to different aspects of the Elemental Soma.
Some weeks we may explore the EarthBody and our felt sense of anchoring and support.
Other weeks may invite us into the feeling and flow of the WaterBody, the rhythm of the BreathBody, the clarity and illumination of the LightBody, or the subtle awareness and connection of the FieldBody.
The focus may change, but the underlying practice remains.
We Anchor into the body.
We Witness what is present.
We allow space for Expression and integration.
This is A.W.E.—Anchor, Witness, Express—in a small, accessible container that can meet us wherever we happen to be that day.
The Practice of the Pause
There is something I have come to appreciate about creating a practice that lasts only twenty minutes.
There is nowhere to rush toward.
We are not trying to cover everything.
We are not trying to have a profound experience.
We are not even trying to become more grounded, peaceful, clear, or regulated.
We are practicing noticing what happens when we give ourselves enough space to simply be here.
In our first EarthBody practice, for example, the invitation is not to make ourselves grounded.
It is to notice the support that is already beneath us.
The chair.
The floor.
The earth.
The weight of the body being held without having to earn that support.
Sometimes the smallest shift in attention can change our relationship with the moment.
That is the heart of The Soma Pause.
Finding a Home at DEN
Before adding The Soma Pause to their weekly schedule, DEN invited me to share a private test session with founders Jami and J.
I guided them through EarthBody — Ground + Settle, the first Soma Pause I had created.
They loved the experience.
And I am delighted to share that I have now officially joined the DEN Meditation teaching community, where The Soma Pause will be offered as a weekly virtual practice.
Our first gathering is:
Tuesday, September 15, 2026
8:00 PM CT | 6:00 PM PT
20 minutes | Virtual
And then we will return again the following Tuesday.
And the Tuesday after that.
I think that is what I love most about this collaboration.
The Soma Pause does not need to be a grand occasion.
It gets to become a rhythm.
A small space within the week where we remember to return.
Come Pause With Me
If you have been curious about The Elemental Soma, this is a beautiful and accessible place to begin.
You do not need previous experience with Reiki, meditation, somatic practice, or any of my work.
You do not need to prepare.
You do not need to arrive feeling peaceful.
You simply arrive as you are.
For twenty minutes, we will listen together.
To breath.
To sensation.
To sound.
To the body.
To what is already here.
DEN has also generously provided me with a light code to share with my community. The session is regularly $11, and you can use code DENLOVE to receive $5 off entrance.

If you cannot join us live, The Soma Pause will also live within DEN's on-demand library, creating another way to return to the practice in your own time.
Twenty minutes.
A little less doing.
A little more noticing.
Pause. Notice. Return.
I hope to meet you there.
